David A. Clayman, Ph.D. is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist with a wide range of practical experience in dealing with “people problems.”  He has developed and managed a large professional practice, a software company, an executive consulting and assessment business and a multifaceted program addressing concerns in the corrections industry.

Dr. Clayman has over 30 years of experience in the forensic psychological evaluation field. He has been known as a friend to the court, offering nonbiased reports for criminal and civil litigation. He has written an estimated 3,000 reports and has also testified in court as an expert witness numerous times. Dr. Clayman is in demand as a speaker who helps organizations retain a value-oriented approach to achieving success.  He works with displaced and stressed executives. Additionally, Dr. Clayman has been involved in crisis management activities with a wide range of businesses, organizations and community groups such as Ravenswood Aluminum, West Virginia State Police, Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston Police Department, West Virginia Division of Corrections, One Valley Bank and others.

Dr. Clayman received his B.A. in Psychology from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Vermont. He joined the faculty at West Virginia University Medical School, Charleston Division, in 1974.  In 1981, he founded Process Strategies Institute, a full-service mental health practice, and served as its CEO/Director. In 2001, this practice merged with Highland Hospital where he served as the Chief Clinical Officer. In the spring of 2004, he went back into private practice and is now the Director of Clayman & Associates, PLLC.

Dr. Clayman has been active in many community, business and professional organizations.  He was the founding president for Kanawha Hospice Care, Inc. and currently serves on the board of Mission West Virginia, an initiative of Governor Cecil Underwood, linking faith communities with various educational and health programs. Dr. Clayman has been a state finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year program (1992 and 1998) and was one of ten honorees in Who’s Who in Business in West Virginia in 1997.

He resides in Charleston, West Virginia with his wife, Janet, and their two cats.
