Geriatric
Evaluations

Declining cognitive abilities are accepted as a part of the natural aging process. The judicial system becomes involved when questions arise such as competency to enter into a contractual agreement or testamentary capacity.

Psychological testing remains the most effective differential diagnosis and assessment method to determine the effects of dementia and other age-related cognitive deterioration. Although usually questions occur after the completion of a contractual agreement or last will and testament, this requires a retrospective assessment that is often difficult to perform and open to a great deal of scrutiny.

To avoid costly, litigious debate, we provide prospective evaluations that will protect your client. Our reports include the functional expression of a disease process (if identified), the rate of decline and the level of functioning demonstrated by the referred individual. Following are examples of issues that can be avoided with prospective evaluations or appropriately answered within retrospective review:

  • Competency to Enter into Contracts
  • Competency to Live Independently
  • Competency to Manage Affairs
  • Competency to Make Treatment Decisions
  • Determining the Impact of Dementia and Diseases such as Alzheimer's
  • Testamentary Capacity
